Let's start

Something new that I am doing, hopefully it’s going to alleviate some of the boredom that we face in the classroom.
So you ask, why are we here? No, sorry dumb rhetorical question. We are here to blog. Obviously. I think I just heard Prashast say that.
Anyways let’s get a bit serious. We have a literature reader to cover. We will be discussing it in class but we are also going online to talk about the lessons. And you can say what ever you want(no obscenitites please), I really want to know what’s going on inside those ticking grey cells of yours. An aside (it means I am going off topic) - why are they called grey cells? I had an MRI of the brain last year(two actually - I thought I was dying of brain tumor) and the pics made the brain look white. so why grey? and please no scientific explanations. Leave your comments on this question at the end of this post.
Right let’s get back on track - we are all going to have our own blogs so follow the steps given in the handout and create your own blogs. Read the story (overnight), follow the link in my second post and then write 'your first post' on the story - basically your comments.
Ahem, now the most important thing. This is part of your internal assessment for the boards. So keep up with the blogging, no extra time will be given and you will have your full 10 marks. Don’t look at this as another piece of junk, if you make it fun it will be fun.
Till next time then, look at the handout (save it in your folders). It tells when the next time is going to be. Not the best of exit lines, but that’s it for today.
Sarcar.

well grey cells. thats an interesting if random and pointless question. sorry. the root of the "grey" cells can be found in one of the oldest features of the human brain and with it human nature. its moral ambiguity. meaning any human is neither good or evil. as white and black are ancient sybolism for good and evil, the middle ground is grey. hence grey cells.

and that was a very cerebral..ahem nerdy... comment. hope nobody fell on their keyboards and died.

Grey colour is associated with dullness..
A person who is boring n self absorbed can cum in da grey cell category
But ppl who aare bright and confident like us will fall into white cell category bcse white is associated wid brightness
Well.....i think it depends on person 2 person as 2 which category he/she belongs 2:)

I feel:
BLACK cell mind is full of ideas/problems and no space 4 new ones ,TOTALLY TIRED MIND.
WHITE represents blank state of mind,NOT WARMED UP.
GREY is in between above 2 state.
WARMED ENOUGH WITH FEW IDEAS TO UNDERSTAND NEW AND AMPLE SPACE 4 NEW ONES.:)

Your class boring ahem haha..., not possible in a million years ok, exagerating on the time period, but i mean seriously speaking though boring naah, because believe me i kow boring and it takes serious talent to make something boring lol haha jk or not. :P

Now about the grey cells ... (psht no really)...english turning scientific haha ;)., a highly interesting subject though if your interested in science as the brain is a very complicated structure.... but i mean for now im not in the mood so blah to tat lol.

There.something similar i am scared of having brain tumer too..(not that i have it...touch wood)
about the grey brain cells possibly what i think is that we dont use all the cells and some are active while the others remain unused or grey...(this is not scientific please dont go by my explaination)...and i like the way of studying?blogging on the net.

I am assuming that the Neanderthal person who discovered the functions of the brain was either colour-blind or completely morbid, morose and depressed.

Whoever came up with the concept of grey cells was a very unimaginative person. The brain can imagine anything (yes anything! i dunno what you are thinking now). Brain cells should be colourful like red ,green blue..etc..(sorta stupid). You know something scientists havent even discovered 20% about the human body. According to them whatever their theories are based on even if there is 1 small mistake then evervthing collapses(that means our brain could be quite different from what people think it is now) oh well thats all for now.
p.s. Kundan what are you trying to say i dont understand the language ur speaking. My name is rjtg92(all the ppl whu kno me).

grey cells....hmmmmmm
seems to be an interesting topic.
exactly as you said , the brain is made of white cells i.e.a person would be bright (including you ma'm)(except few rare people,i dont wanna name them),but i hope these cells were colorful. However that person would luk like a joker(funny na.......).Well thats all for now.

p.s.I agree with rgtg-person coming with a idea of grey cells would be really unimaginative.

well the grey cels refer to the shady things being thought about in our mind.it also could be the greying (aging) of cells due to pressure in day to day life.well in any case i dont care about its colour , i care only about its functioning.

Grey cells... well,
I think that it refers to the cells of those humans that have got bored of studying English.
But through this internet talk, I'm sure that some of those cells will heal.
Isn't it scientific?!!!!

I think that brain cells r usually coloured & lack of use makes them grey. i think we should all have an x-ray 2 see the colour of our cells since itz high time we wake up & start using them
in the tenth grade.

grey cells..hmmmm...lets see
grey is associated to dullness
and dullness,in this case, for you is associated to us....
don't worry it won't be saying this by the end of this year i hope.....:)

grey cells turning white???
I think you are growing old so you are listening to your heart and not your brain .Because of this you have started getting creepy sensations in your heart like the brain tumour. But this is all a misconception. The grey cells could also be because of so much teaching so I suggest you must go on long holidays to mauritious(Something to chill u off).
p.s-and your class can never be boring!!-It's a lot of fun.

the world is neither completely white nor completely black.

it is full of shades of grey. So, in order to survive in this world you have to have a lot of grey cells.

Well i think that these grey cells have a lot to do with brains and the brains with books n since the text written in books is genrally black and the paper is white n the mixture of these two colours is grey that is why these r called grey cells.

This is an interesting way to study English for the rest of the year. The biggest plus for me is, now I don't have to get off my computer chair to do my English homework.

Okay, to clear up a bit of confusion, shrinky is Shayan, and I'm guessing crazy monkey is Sujoy, from the writing style. His ability to say nothing in so many words is an art form, one I must learn from him.

Ahem, anyway...

About grey cells - Maybe Sujoy really DID have a point there, when he linked the origin of grey cells with human nature. In fact, I'm actually inclined to agree with him on this... How surprising.

However, simply than agreeing with him, I'll also take a turn of the nerdy here and post two alternative, vaguely scientific theorems. Those who do not wish to exercise their minds, please stop reading now.

1) X-Rays are, as you (should) know, a form of electromagnetic radiation. When directed at a body, they tend to go through some body organs and bounce back from others, hence giving us a 3-D picture of a person's insides. Of course, since it's radiation, it doesn't give us colour, so we're stuck with black where the radiation goes right through, white where it is totally reflected, and grey where it is partially reflected. The brain partially reflects X-Rays, so there.

2) Believe it or not, brain and spinal tissues actually are slightly greyish in colour, but mostly you can't see it because there's also a lot of blood between us and someone's brains. So unless you've hacked someone's brains out and left their poor, sorry carcasses out to dry, you can't actually see the greyish tint yourself. Furthermore, when deprived of oxygen, neurons tend to, well, die, and post mortem they tend to turn a stronger shade of grey. So yeah.

I hope I didn't give the rest of you eyesores.

~Godsword.

PS: Shayan, THIS is Nishant. *Winks*

hmmmmmmmm... grey cells ok maam i guess dey were grey coz earlier(when u had ur MRI done)ur brain wasent very creative as of now and that time it must be dull and boring like all other black and white things which are visible as grey coloured soo they must have come grey in the photo ;)

ok...coming back to the topic...i think we have grey cells because we dont use them...and i am sure most of us have grey cells because we never pay attention in the class...

P.S- pavani i m sure u dnt ve grey cells in your brain...but people like me surely do..

At times that question makes sense and at times it does not.maybe the person who discovered grey cells was obsessed with the colour.
i also agree with sujoy's(crazy monkey)reason.

Actually maam, the brain cells appear grey in color and thats why they r called grey cells. Its like calling the red carpet 'the red carpet' that we call the brain cells grey cells. [This is my best shot at not being scientific so please be pleased...]

And,..wait did I write all that,, ha ha
I would also like to congratulate u on ur wonderful idea to make my brain less gray and convincing me that i wont die of brain tumor lol
