Other Things and Assignment 2
Before I go on to discussing the assignment, I think I want to write on some random stuff. Rememeber how I talked about being a fan of James Bond movies. Getting my share of the vicarious experience of being in the fast car, with a handsome man to boot. Well, I just read a book, "Double or Die" by Charlie Higson. It's third in the series of 'Young James Bond'...anyone ever heard of it? Anyway coming back to the point, in "Double or Die"(let me say that it's no literary masterpiece, but it does have its points) James Bond has his 'almost' first crush. Why would falling in love be called a crush?I've always wondered... Why not call it something else...any ideas?
About the book, it's a racy read, you could buy a copy or borrow it from me. However, if you do, it should come back unscathed.
One more reminder about no obscenities, not even short forms or with asterik marks doing the fill in the blank trick. It's a strict no no.
Also two more random thoughts...what's your take on Shakira and her whole concert in Mumbai? Why doesn't a concert by Shubha Mudgal(I hope you know who she is...)generate so much heat and hype?
And who could have killed Bob Woolmer?No random comments on this please. It's more of a rhetorical question.

So the questions you need to address are - why? why does he do it? what do you think the snake stands for?does it stand for anything at all?(you can e mail me in case you need to clarify something)
Addendum - This is to be a post in your own blogs, just making it clear.
2. I am a postponing the date by which you can post - 31st of March, Saturday evening, 8p.m. - give or take a few hours. (on re reading this line - it's a terribly constructed sentence, but it does get the point across)
Your comments, if any, to my random thoughts are welcome. And for those who are doing this only for the marks - points will not be deducted if you do not leave any comments!

My God. One would think you'd cut down on the threats a bit...what with appearing to be past them and all....but there they are; hard, cold and English.
(I hope this counts as a marks-gaining comment.)
I'm sure this Mudgal lady is truly talented, but er....Shakira's Brazilian. That means she is genetically coded to be voluptous. (unless she is a starving model with a BMI of 13. (thoroughly model-like. (that would mean dumb)))
I think much of Shakira's audience would go just to see her. and you have to admit-she has some fairly er...umm...."steamy" dance sequences.
But personally, I'd hire her as a singer at a disco or a New Year's Eve party. I wouldn't go for her concert.

Shubha Mudgal is wonderful singer but most people would go for Shakira's concert because she can get the audience to dance and sing along with her.I also agree with radha,a lot of people go to her concerts just to see her and her saucy dances.
Moreover there are very few people who are intrested or inclined towards classical and semi classical music.One can only enjoy classical music if he/she understands or is exposed to it.eg:if you go to the south, masses enjoy classical music because they are exposed to it.
comments are just for fun, so no marks radha and vanshica good analogy of carnatic music.
Shakira is not brazilian. She's colombian. (fact: colombia has the highest murders per captia in the world) As Radha said, people go to see her, not to listen to the music, which isn't too good.
My Harry Potter hypothesis: Snape is a good guy, and Dumbeldore had to die to keep Harry safe (don't ask why). So he ordered Snape to murder him. I think Harry will live. Besides, Harry has to live because it would be too much of a letdown to Rowling's readers for him to die now. Also, most of her readers are little kids, and killing off the hero of the series might mentally affect her young readers. But I think either Ron or Hermione have to die. Otherwise her more mature readers would feel betrayed for having been denied the satisfaction that the death of the two most annoying characters would surely bring with it. The sevenh book will probably have a lot of feelgood stuff cuz its the last book and Harry has to live happily ever after.
Falling in love is called a crush according to me becuz of the weight of expectations that follow it.
the expectations of the lover and vice versa are very high, sometimes too high... This can get really 'crushing' after a period of time. Why do u think so many ppl break up marriages/engagements? In spite of having what is supposed to be known as true love btw them!
This crushy problem seems to affect the Hollywood ppl more than others in the whole world. We know where this 'inspiration' started from now...
there are always exceptions i admit, but fewer than the obvious exposures.
I think that Snape is innocent n he is doing everything on dumbledore's order n dere is also a possibility dat dumbeldore is still alive n faked his death in order 2 fool Voldermort.

this is getting very interesting. i agree with mila, harry will not die. rowling is obviously going to keep her alive, because despite all her protestations she just might take out a series entitled Harry Potter - Defence against the dark arts...blah.
and if dumbledore comes alive, I'll be really unhappy, it does not satisfy any kind of literary standard. but all said and done i like to read the books, so even if i crib i'll still read them.
Bob Woolmer's death definitely had something to do with the match-fixing angle I'm sure. My guess is that it's one of the Pakistani players who murdered him(inspite of the vehement protests against them not being culprits)
Shoaib Akhtar's presence would have made it easier for us to try and pinpoint the blame ;)

Maybe Shoaib did a disappearing act for a short while and went all the way to West Indies, commited murder and quick as a flash is out of the country before Woolmer is found dead. By the time the scribes think of turning to ask Shoaib for his bites, he's already back in Pakistan? Yes?
That's possible, he could have easily told anyone dat he was going to England for treatment and then taken a flight onwards from England to the Indies. It's an 14-16 hour flight total from Pakistan to the country hosting WC. And then as mentioned before, reach Pakistan before word gets out. It is possible, no?
How often has Shoaib been known in the past for mysteriously disappearing from Pakistan and suddenly ending up in England? Quite often I assure u...
I think that Bob Woolmer's case is getting more 'n' more mysterious with each passing day.
There are many theories ragarding the death of Bob.
I think that he might have been murdered by the Pak players as he was going to reveal some facts about match-fixing.
He could also have commited suicide after the shameful loss of his team against Ireland. Even though it appears distant, it could be true.
Only time will tell!!!!!!!

I would like Harry to triumph over Vodlemort (I hope you are not scared of speaking the name) but it would be such a Hindi-Movie ending if Harry survives.
Shubha Mudgal is a very good singer (well...actually I don't know who she is but I assume that is a wonderful singer) but I think that more people go to watch Shakira's concert as they are more inclined towards Western music and culture rather Indian. I think that Shakira has the ability to attract audience because of her looks and worldwide fame.

I agree that Bob Woolmer's death has something to do with match fixing.I have a strong feeling that Parvez Mir(media manager)of the pakistan team is the person behind Woolmer's murder along with few pakistani cricket players.
I think the plan of killing Woolmer would have been Mir's and it must have been executed by few players from the team.

Well!!!!!! I think Bob Woolmer's death is not as simple as it looks like.Though the case had been made as such to show that he has committed a suicide but it really is a murder.I think the people about whom he was to reveal the match-fixing secrets would've strangled him to death.And that is why his book has also been stolen.But I must say that whosoever is the murderer is very clever bcos he has murdered bob exactly at the time of the loss of his team to a minnow(Ireland).
Now,, Shakira is really an interesting topic to talk on!!!!
I think she is a hit in India bcos most of the people are inclined towards the Western music and the advertisements are carried on such a large scale that everyome is attraced.But also at the same time she is immensely talented and has a great body.
Shakira is a really good singer.Her concert in Mumbai left her fans mesmerized.But her fans were more into her moves than her music.
Shubha mudgal is a classical singer and the today's youth would prefer more energetic songs.Classical music is all about understanding the music which is a bit tough for a person who is new to this.
U tell me ma'am, what would you prefer-mesmerizing Shakira's music or the spiritual Shubha Mudgal's music.
BOB WOOLMER DEATH MYSTERY:
I think that bob woolmer did a suicide. In my opinion the mark on his neck is accidental and he ate some pills taken from pakistan wrapped up in a paper sheet (as he had thought that pakistan will just flunk in the world cup). He did all this so that an issue on his death can be made. Alternatively he might have also commited suicide to keep himself away from the rude & harsh words he would have to hear from the pakistani members of parliament(specially i mean Pervez Mushraff).I think the mention of his book(about match-fixing) by media is just a concocted story made by them to keep the mystery alive. so,this is my opinion on Bob Woolmer,s death.

Well, to start with, I would like to agree with mformm********** when he says Shakira's Columbian. (Another fact: She learnt english properly only when she was around 20 years old.) And now she's moved out of India and is doing a concert someplace else...I think.
Anyway, moving on to the HP deal. I'm assuming Rowling will try to feed Harry to Death and then Snape will save him in the nick of time however, someone close to Harry - perhaps Ron will die. I'm also assuming she'll bring back Sirius and/or Dumbledore just like Gandalf was brought back in LOTR - just to make the book cooler.
Alrighty, coming to a close - let's not go over Woolmer's murder too much or he'll be remembered as the-man-whose-murder-remains-a-mystery. Instead, let's remember him for whatever it was that he did.

snape may be harry's savior but there are other options too.i think it will either be snape,draco or ron.snape bcoz he killed voldemort,but not by choise it was more out of duty.i think draco might realise that he's been trying to get his father's attention and that he really doesn't want to be like his father.i mostly say that bcoz he couldn't kill d dore at the end of the last book.and his father would have done it gladly.so maybe draco has some good left in him.and ron bcoz i have read some theories that ron would risk his life to save harry.ooooo i almost forgot about pettigrew.i know he owes harry for saving his life in the 3rd book so he may be harry's savior in the last book.

I think it was great having an international artiste here in India we dont get to see much of dem.Shubha Mudgal is a Classical Singer(I guess if its wrong PLZZ dont screw me!) but da Shakira thing was Overhyped. Why is falling in love called a crush?
Hmm, well, I think "crush" is a negative word. It infers that the recipient of your desire does not share the same feeling towards you. Hence it is called crush: The person who you have a "crush" on has the power to crush yor heart with but a single sentence: "I don't feel the same way about you."
Why Shubha Mudgal not generate the same interest as a Shakira concert?

1) For a start, I've never heard of Shubha Mudgal, and trust me, I know about a lot of things.

The rest of the reasons have been stated in one way or another but I'll go over them once again.
2) The largest part of the Shakira concert audience is undoubtedly the "Young Males" demographic. They came to SEE her, not HEAR her. Hence Shubha Mudgal loses out on a lot of potential customers.
3) Shakira's an international star. She already has a lot of hype attached to her, and she can afford to spend vast quantities of cash on an advertising campaign that generates even MORE interest.
4) The new generation like energetic music more than classical. Classical is just not pacy enough.
Who killed Bob Woolmer?
I don't think this is a rhetorical question. If it was, the Jamaican police would have someone behind abrs by now. For me though, I think Pervez Mir and the bookies we've heard that a linked to Dawood Ibrahim were responsible. My guess is, Mir was in cahoots (Spelling?) with Dawood and fixed the match. Dawood's betting syndicates would then generate cash as all the people (99% of the betters) betting on Pakistan would lose, thus forfeiting their cash to the syndicates and thus to Ibrahim. Woolmer found out, and had to be disposed of.
The Potter Files - Will he? Won't he? (Die)
Call me crazy, but here's my theory behind what'll happen in HP7. Dumbledore and Sirius are not resurrected. Voldemort kills Potter with Snape's help; Snape is revealed to be Voldemort's servant after all. However, Voldemort is tremendously weakened by the struggle as it took place in Hogwarts and a lot of Harry's friends and teachers were with him. Ron and Professor McGonnagal (Spelling?) die as well in the struggle, and Hermione gets crippled. Seeing his chance for ultimate power, Snape kills Voldy in the ultimate coup d'etat. However, at this point, Peter Pettigrew comes back and defects to the good guys, and repaying his debt to Harry posthumously, kills Snape.
So there.

Shakira is famous worldwide thats why her concerts attract so much of attention than Shubha Mudgals(dont know who is she).Also the young generation like to watch Shakira onstage not an old hag(i dont wanna be offensive!).

Shubha Mudgal is seriously a great singer and i really like songs of hers. I don't know why there is not such kind of an audience in her concerts.
i think (as almost everyone says!) that mostly people going to Shakira's concerts , go to admire her . But ther can be people who actually for coz of the songs.

There is a clue somewhere in it. Harry and Neville were both born on same days and both are supposed to have great powers at hand. Perhaps Neville's power comes to the fore only in the 7th book and IF Harry does die, he uses the new-found power to resurrect Harry. Possible? Neville has been under-rated so far in the whole series. I feel that he will come of his own in the 'final' book.

Bwahahaha!! That's a good one. That would actually be kinda cool if it actually happened. But it's not. Becuase I strongly believe in my theory of Dumbledore The White - who is back alive just like Gandalf after seeming to be dead, even though it's a bit absurd.
Even if my theory is wrong, I'm betting there'll be the word "Dumbledore" metioned in the book a couple of a hundred thousand times.
